The Great Escape was the most famous escape of World War Two, and it was a complete disaster. Of the seventy six Allied airmen who escaped from Stalag Luft III prisoner of war camp, all were recaptured and fifty were murdered in cold blood. This is the story of the dedicated RAF Special Investigation Teams quest for justice. For three years, using reports, intelligence papers, and court transcriptions, Frank McKenna and his team hunted down the SS and Gestapo members responsible for the murders. At War Crimes Tribunals in 1947, their painstaking efforts culminated in the convictions and sentencing of dozens of culprits.
