Documentary series following the conservation work of the Africat Foundation in central Namibia. The dentist arrives at Okonjima to carry out essential root canal work on rescue cheetah Tongs. Once the surgery is complete Tongs is all set to join her companions in the reserve, but there is a problem – her former friends appear to have forgotten her and when she enters the reserve they attack. Back at base, cub Quattro has recovered from his broken leg and the team decide it is time for him to make some new friends. Feisty siblings Spitfire and Hurricane are the same age as Quattro and it is hoped the three will join forces and enter the reserve together – but Spitfire and Hurricane have other ideas.

Back at the foundation, cheetah cub Quattro is moved to a new enclosure so he can regain some mobility in his broken leg. Fifteen years ago British wildlife cameraman David Houghton left everything behind to begin a new life in Africa, conserving cheetahs and other big cats. At The Africat Foundation in Namibia Dave works with a dedicated team who have spent twelve years preparing a 40,000 acre reserve, designed to give rescued cheetahs a stepping stone to life back in the wild. In this episode cheetah cub Quattro needs major surgery on a broken leg after being hit by a car. It is a tricky operation and if it is unsuccessful he will have to be put down. At the Foundation, one-eyed Cyclops has had the all clear from the veterinary team and can be released on to the Okonjima Reserve. It will be down to Dave to coax the elusive cat out of his enclosure so he can take his first steps and adapt to independence.

Elsewhere, four-year-old Coco and her fellow cheetahs are about to spend their first night fending for themselves in the reserve. There are concerns that their lack of hunting experience might leave them hungry – but when field co-ordinator AJ spots them in a clearing just before sunset he gets quite a surprise.
