The discovery of a census taker’s body in the boot of a car leads the CSIs to a string of meth labs, but the hunt for the murderer becomes fraught with danger.Horatio finds a body in the boot of a vehicle, but the young driver, Kevin Hensler, insists that he was held at gunpoint and forced to transport the body by a mystery man. While the CSIs check out Kevin’s story, Tom examines the body. He concludes that the man, a government census taker by the name of Carl Benson, died from chemical poisoning. “It would have been prolonged agony,” he tells Calleigh. “Chemical inhalants take 12 or 13 hours to kill a person.”Natalia and Ryan visit the last neighbourhood covered by Carl on the day of his death. On the estate, they find an abandoned house containing traces of insulating wool that match fibres found on the victim’s T-shirt. A strange noise draws them to the kitchen, and Ryan opens the door to reveal a meth lab on the verge of exploding. The CSIs flee the building and escape just in time to avoid serious injury.
