The Fringe team turns to Massive Dynamic to help analyze the buried components of the doomsday device that have been recovered from around the globe, which is speculated to be an artifact of the “First People”, a lost civilization that supposedly existed until the “mother of all mass extinctions”. Walter grows concerned about tests conducted on Peter to understand why the device is sensitive to his presence. The assassination of several shapeshifters and the possibility of a mole from the parallel universe adds to the concern.
