Last in series of Julian Fellowes’s lavish period drama. Cora discovers she is pregnant, which leaves Mary wondering how to answer Matthew’s proposal, since his situation would change completely if the baby turns out to be a boy. Mary accuses Edith of spreading the story that threatens to ruin her. O’Brien is angry when she suspects that Cora is going to replace her, so plans an accident for her mistress. Sir Anthony Strallan has promised to propose to Edith at the party, but a bitter Mary corners him first. Below stairs, Gwen and Thomas may have found new futures for themselves and Bates’s position still hangs in the balance.
